Meet the team
Urban Gurus was founded in 2017 by Christian and Christina and incorporated in 2019 with Oliver as President. Stephanie helps them to turn their high-flying ideas into concrete projects that work.
Dr. Oliver Banz
Oliver (Chief of Chiefs at Urban Gurus) has extensive experience as attorney, strategy consultant and banker.
After having worked as a lawyer for Homburger and consultant for McKinsey, he acted as Head of cooperative banks for Raiffeisen, served as COO and Head of large corporates at UBS, and was the Global Chief of Staff in its Ultra High Net Worth business. He supported various start-ups, such as a SME financing platform and a digital as-set bank. He currently acts as our chairman and President of Chicago Booth’s Swiss Alumni.
Oliver holds a Ph.D. as Dr.iur. from Zurich University and has earned an MBA from Chicago Booth.
Stephanie (Emerging Executive, Game Changer and Leader) keeps the Chiefs under control and ensures a moderate level of pragmatism and order.
She is the one that makes things happen. Stephanie holds a B.A. from St. Gallen University, is an M.A. candidate in business management and has professional experience in HR and sales support.
Christian is the Chief Fun Officer, the motor of motivation and inspiration of Urban Gurus.
He has more than 10 years of practical experience in the field of Asset Management. It was during this time that he realized that the only real assets are people following purpose and being aligned.
Christian holds a BA with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Applied Sciences in Zurich (HWZ). He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and due to his profound interest in the interpersonal dynamics of corporate environments led him to earn a Master’s Degree in Change at INSEAD.
Christina acts as Chief Brain Officer, at least during her good phases.
She has been engaged in executive and business coaching in Switzerland and internationally for more than 22 years. Core topics of her work have been accompanying change processes and career management. Before founding her own company, Choice Executive and Business Coaching, she was a member of the Executive Committee of Sulzer AG, responsible for Group Development.
Christina is a business administration graduate, holds an MBA from INSEAD and a M.S. in “Coaching and Consulting for Change” from HEC in Paris. When she cannot refrain from passing on her wisdom, she writes books, articles or acts as a guest lecturer at the Uni-versity of Zurich, or mentors at the University of St. Gallen or as an executive coach at INSEAD.
